Blog #2

Question for 25-75:  What additional insight into culture do you gain from reading this section?  Please explain with specific references to incidents in the section.

In the next fifty pages of "River Town" by Peter Hessler you learn more about the culture of Fuling. I realized that their wording is much different than ours. Where some things may be known as offensive here in America, they are just common words or names in Fuling. If I were to be calling someone a "peasant," it would be very offensive and the other person would take very much offense to that, but in Fuling the culture is different and they speak ways like this. In the end, a "peasant" is just a farmer, but saying "peasant" just sounds so harsh.
